Frequently Asked

Who is this app for?

Mitches Macros is built specifically for USAFA cadets. The menu data comes from the Mitchell Hall dining facility feed, the PFT/AFT scoring follows USAFA test events, and the PEA/Recondo calculator is tuned to cadet academic weighting. It works for anyone who wants to track macros, but the plate optimizer only has data you'll recognize if you eat at Mitches.

Is it free?

Yes. The app is free on the App Store with no ads, no trackers, and no subscription. Download and use everything.

How accurate is the PFT/AFT scoring?

The scoring is approximated from published USAFA curves and matches the official tables closely enough for day-to-day training decisions. It is not a substitute for your official test scores. If you need an exact number for administrative purposes, consult your squadron's PE cadre.

How does the FIP check work?

A score under 200 out of 500 on either the PFT or AFT flags a FIP risk. The app shows exactly which test(s) triggered the flag and clears when both tests are at or above 200. The PEA/Recondo calculator estimates your semester and new cumulative PEA using a 50% class / 35% PFT / 15% AFT weighting.

Can I use it without a USAFA account?

You'll need to create a free Mitches Macros account with an email and password. This stores your targets, food log, and workouts across devices. No USAFA credentials are involved or required.

Why don't I see any menu items?

The menu feed updates daily. If the Plate tab shows no items, the feed may be temporarily unavailable — try again in a few minutes. You can still use Build My Own Plate, log food manually, and use custom items and your personal stash in the meantime.

How do I ban a food?

Go to the Bans tab, search for any item on today's menu, and tap the red Ban button. It's permanently excluded from every future plate the optimizer generates. You can also type in any custom name to ban foods that aren't on today's menu.

Will there be an Android version?

Not currently. iOS only.

Troubleshooting

App won't load / network errors

First, check your connection. USAFA cadet wifi occasionally blocks background API traffic — switch to cellular and retry. If that works, it's a network filter issue, not an app issue.

Plate generation fails

Open Settings → Profile and confirm your calorie and macro targets are set to reasonable values. If target calories is 0 or protein is unrealistic, the optimizer has nothing to solve for. Re-run TDEE from the profile screen if you're unsure.

Trends tab shows an error

Make sure you're on the latest app version. Older builds had a range-endpoint issue that was fixed — update from the App Store and relaunch.

Food log disappeared

Your log is saved to the server, not just the device. Sign out and sign back in to force a fresh sync. If data is still missing, email support with your username and the date range so we can check the backend.

Force update screen won't go away

You're on an older build. Open the App Store, search Mitches Macros, and tap Update. Once the new version installs, the screen clears automatically.

What we collect

  • Account data: username, email, and hashed password
  • Profile data: age, gender, height, weight, activity level, goal, and macro targets you enter
  • Log data: food you log, workouts you log, readiness entries (weight, sleep, body fat, 1–10 feeling score)
  • PFT/AFT data: the scores and inputs you type into the scorer, used only to compute results on your device

What we don't collect

  • No advertising identifiers
  • No third-party analytics or trackers
  • No location data
  • No contacts, photos, or device identifiers beyond what iOS provides for basic app function
  • No USAFA credentials, military ID, or government data

How we use it

Your data is used only to provide the app's features: calculating targets, generating plates, tracking progress, and syncing your log across your devices. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train machine learning models.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers operated by Romeoz Apps. Passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text). Communication between the app and the server uses HTTPS.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated in-app.

Terms of Use

By using Mitches Macros, you agree to these terms. They're short and in plain language.

Acceptable use

Use the app for its intended purpose: tracking your own nutrition, workouts, and fitness test scores. Don't attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the server. Don't use the app to harass other users or upload content that violates any laws.

Account responsibility

You're responsible for keeping your password secure. If you share your account, whatever happens on it is on you.

Availability

The app and server are provided "as is." We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee uninterrupted service, and the Mitches menu feed is outside our direct control. We may update or discontinue features without notice.

Liability

Mitches Macros provides informational tools. It is not medical advice, not a certified fitness assessment, and not an official USAFA scoring system. We are not liable for decisions you make based on the app's output. Train smart and consult qualified professionals for medical, nutritional, or military-scoring decisions.

Disclaimer

Not affiliated with USAFA

Mitches Macros is an independent application developed by Romeoz Apps. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Air Force, or the Department of Defense. References to USAFA, Mitchell Hall, the PFT, AFT, FIP, and PEA are used only to describe the target user base and the features of the app.

Not medical or nutritional advice

Macro targets, calorie calculations, eat-back suggestions, and body composition estimates are approximations based on well-known formulas (Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict, METs). They are not a substitute for advice from a registered dietitian, physician, or certified strength and conditioning coach. If you have a medical condition, eating disorder, or special dietary requirement, consult a qualified professional.

Not an official scoring system

The PFT, AFT, and PEA calculations in this app are approximations derived from publicly available scoring curves. They are intended for training feedback only. Your official test scores come from the USAFA Athletic Department, not from this app. Do not use in-app scores for any administrative purpose.
